Tosin was sitting on his couch anticipating a knock. If all went according to plan, it would all go down tonight! He had been careful to remove any breakable items from his sitting room, after all if there was gonna be a fight then he wanted to be able to sit down and enjoy it without worrying about his precious collection.
Nnamdi and Hassan had begged to stay and watch but he couldn’t risk it neither did he agree to catch it all on film. This sh*t was private and they’d have to be content with his version of the story over drinks. He smiled a mischievous smile. Nobody messed with Tosin Mcfoy. He’d gotten sick of grovelling after a couple of days and had hatched this plan under duress. He was glad it was paying off. He’d be planning the biggest party of the year soon.
It hadn’t been easy getting everything to fall into place and at times he had considered throwing in the towel but he hadn’t won businessman of the year for nothing. He knew how to save a dying business and one thing his father had taught him was that no move was too ruthless for a winner. Love was a game and it was time to play ball!
The waiting seemed endless. Getting those two women to be in two different places at once had been the most difficult. Both of them insisting on spending his birthday with him but he couldn’t risk that happening. He had counted on the fact that she didn’t read Nigerian magazines and so would not be aware of recent developments. His phone rang. It seemed it’d been ringing all day but that was usual on birthdays. He picked without looking at the screen after all one could only expect a cliché phone call on a day like this.
“Happy birthday son. I really wish I could spend it with you. I know you and Aisha are having problems and I didn’t want you to be alone tonight. I know how much you love that girl…”
“I’ll be fine mother. Hanging out with the guys tonight. Aisha and I will sort out our differences. There’s a knock on the door, probably the boys. Gotta go, love you!”
Yes! The anticipated knock. He wondered if the cat fight would begin at the door. He hoped not. He didn’t want his nosy neighbours getting involved and his mother would be sure to hear of such an incident. Reason why he wanted her far, far away from his apartment tonight.
There was no rustle outside his door. Just silence…
He walked over to the mirror and grinned. Yep he was fly, he was fine and he was ready for action.
He unlocked the door and as he opened it, his jaw dropped in amazement.
“Ermm hello Tanto”
He could barely muster a smile as his eyes searched the empty hallway frantically.
“Aren’t you gonna invite me in?” Tanto responded sarcastically.
He stepped aside for her to enter and then closed the door hurriedly.
“Did you see her? I can’t believe she didn’t show up. This wasn’t the plan…”
“Can I pour you a drink? It’s your birthday, relax!”
Tanto looked unperturbed and he suddenly smelt a rat.
“Oh, alright. Darling it’s not my fault that the scaredy cat saw me and fled. I can’t help being so intimidatingly sexy…”
“She fled? Why weren’t you the one to leave? Why did you let her go? Sh*t, sh*t!!!”
“Oh stop it Tosin. The truth is, there’s been a slight change of plans. My publicist says ratings have gone up since our romance went public. Forget that Halima or whatever you call her. Let’s focus on us…”
She walked seductively over to Tosin.
“You and I could be the next Bey and Jay…”
“Will you stop it! I paid good money for your services. WTF is this?”
“I’ll have my publicist refund your money in full. Baby I have feelings for you. I want us to be together…”
“Tanto get the f**k out of my house this was purely business!”
“Purely business? What about the passionate night we spent together? Was that business too? Anyway you should have considered that before you f**ked me. The doctor says I’m pregnant!”
She tossed an envelope at him and Tosin opened it with quivering hands. How could this be? What sort of glitch was this? His life was so messed up right now. Damn! hadn’t he used protection? He couldn’t really remember, he’d been so high that night.
“I can’t deal with this right now!”
He grabbed his shirt and his car keys and walked towards the door.
“I’ll be waiting for you when you get back darling. We can work this out. Happy birthday…”
The door closed with a loud bang. Tosin had never been this infuriated in his life. There was no way in hell that Tanto was keeping that baby. He had hired her to make Aisha jealous. He had gone through great lengths to infiltrate Aisha’s circle and his sources had told him Aisha would be coming over for his birthday. Tanto was supposed to get into a fight with her and then he was supposed to make a great show of being on Aisha’s side which would lead to Tanto dumping him and walking out of the apartment. Tanto hadn’t come cheap! He thought about the millions of naira he’d spent…
“She is going to refund every last penny of my money! B*tch!”
He dialled Nnamdi’s number.
“Hey bro! Goaaaalllllll! Arsenal just scored. How did it go? Celebrations are in order right?”
“No Nnamdi. Tanto chased Aisha away and now she says she is f*cking carrying my baby!”
“Woah woah woah wtf???!!!”
As Tosin reversed out of the parking lot he spotted a car parked some distance away. He knew that car anywhere after all he had hand picked it for her last birthday….
“Nnamdi I’ll call you back…”
He jumped out of his car and walked to the silver Toyota Camry and knocked on the window. His heart lurched as he saw Aisha tears streaming down her face mixed with streaks of mascara.
“Please open the door”
Tosin got in the car and held her hand. He didn’t know what to say. He’d messed up so bad.
“I’m sorry Aisha, I’m so sorry”
Aisha wouldn’t even look at him.
He leaned over and pulled her into his arms and her loud sobs broke his heart.
“I’ve messed up so badly baby. How can I ever make it up to you…?”
To be continued…
Have a lovely day peeps! Xoxoxo 😉
